Thunder! Thunder! Thundercats WHOA!

The new Thundertank will stop you in your tracks but unfortunately for the wrong reasons. While it is an awesome (yet small) vehicle, it just doesn't hold up to regular play. As a display piece it is a very cool looking toy but once you start to "play" with it, everything seems to fall apart. The first thing we noticed was when we put the "hood" on the vehicle that it would not pop into place. This was because the "arms" for the hood are wider than the actual cockpit it is supposed to snap onto. It is a big issue as it would rattle around or completely fall off from just slightly moving the vehicle or raising the hood. Luckily (or should that be unluckily?) the plastic is flimsy enough to "pinch" the hoods arms closer together and get it to somewhat hold into place (further modification is needed to completely fix the problem). Once that is taken care of, the Thundertank's actual arms and claws need attached. Unfortunately further issues arise as the actual arms only lightly "fit" into place. No snapping or firm connection...just a light slide in and out on the side of the tank. Add on the little "racers" and the weight is sometimes too much that the arms fall out. Just imagine if you added the larger Thunderracers (that have Lion-O/Tygra). In addition to the arms, you have the claws to deal with. The claws have a pole-like piece that snaps into the back of the Thundertank's arms to allow the claws to raise up and down. Unfortunately the snap into place is again more "hold into place" as raising the claws causes some wiggle with them possibly falling out. This becomes an annoying issue when you realize that the claws raise to launch the little racers (have not tried the larger $15 Thunderracers). Luckily the racers do launch (on a flat surface. No carpets) so there are no issues there but when the claws are down they don't seem to launch well enough to pop the claws up regularly. Sometimes they launch and sometimes they hit the claw and everything (claws & racers) just pops off. With so much barely holding into place or falling off with minor movement, we would not suggest actually moving it across carpet or in action where it might be bumped (lightly or otherwise) as you will be calling constant "time outs" as you replace things that fell off/apart.

This is really a 2 Star toy at best but because it is such a nice display piece it was given 3 stars. While it may look cool, the toy comes off as cheap (in production AND materials used). Kids just won't get much play value out of it (especially when you factor in battery/shipping costs and tax pushing it to around $35-40). In fact, the similarly priced Batmobile Tumbler vehicle completely demolishes the Thundertank in every way that it is unfortunate that Bandai couldn't have created at least a somewhat better toy (at the $30 price point) rather than something that feels (and plays) more like one of those knock-offs sold with the pre-built easter baskets or in the "cheap" toy aisles at stores.

Complete GARBAGE! NOT EVEN WORTH THE $8.99 LET ALONE THE $29.99 I PAID

I just bought my son for Christmas! Complete CRAP, the liar falls apart before you can even finish putting it together, the Thundertank won't stay together, all of the figures arms and legs fall off, and their weapons don't even fit in their hands! COMPLETE GARBAGE! I LOVED the Thundercats as a child and I'm so aggervated with putting these toys together every 5 seconds while my child plays with them. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON ANY OF THESE TOYS!In this economy, I looked for the best deals and only bought my son things he REALLY loved, now I feel really taken advantage of!

Disapointed

My 5 year old son got this from his father who grew up on Thunder Cats. He loves it but is so frustrated within an hour he gave up. Every time he touches it something else falls off. While trying to put that piece back on something else will fall off. I think I will try to Super Glue the side leg / wheels back on to salvage the toy. They really just went VERY cheap on this thing. Looks cool but its just a flimsy piece of junk :(
